Matt J. Goren, PhD CFP® helps people achieve their financial goals while going through life transitions, particularly career changes and moves abroad. His approach is informed by his backgrounds in psychology and education. He helps clients understand their options, simplify their lives, and take action to improve their circumstances and accomplish their goals.
Matt is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and fiduciary. In addition, Matt is Chief Strategy Officer for the country’s leading CFP® program, Danko Education. At Danko, Matt combines lessons from his teaching experience with best practices in adult education, AI, and psychology. He is also the co-founder of the Global Financial Planning Institute and serves with the Financial Planning Association and FinServ Foundation. Previously, Matt ran CFP® education programs at Dalton Education and The American College. He was also a director at CFP Board, a professor of personal finance at the University of Georgia, and host of Nothing Funny About Money on NPR.
Matt has a Ph.D. in social psychology from UC Berkeley, an MS in social psychology from the University of Georgia, and a BS in psychology with minors in statistics and history from the University of Florida. He lives in Chicago, IL with his wife and is a frequent traveler.
