Marcy Maycock, CFP® began her financial career at the age of 16, when she learned that her father had not saved any money for her college education. From that moment, she vowed to forge her own destiny. Eager to enter the business world, she graduated college with High Honors in just over 3 years, attending Duke University and the University of Florida. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, majoring in International Economics and Politics.
Considering the challenging climate that female financial advisors faced in the late 1970’s, Marcy would flourish in the world of television news. She began at WPLG-TV in Miami before moving to the ABC-TV News network bureau in Washington, D.C. While the transition to our nation’s capital had originally been a ten year goal, Marcy would ambitiously reach the milestone in 3 years.
With determination and persistence, Marcy built her personal investment strategy. By investing in the ABC Savings and Investment Plan, she accumulated company stock through payroll deductions. Her stock shares would increase tenfold with Cap Cities’ purchase of ABC, and then again by 4-to-1 when Disney bought Cap Cities. She sold off 2/3 of her ABC stock and diversified by investing into the future: computers (Intel) and healthcare (Pfizer).
